The Assessment Process
What to expect for you, for your child, and the steps to get there.
-
An assessment is an opportunity for you to understand how your child’s brain works and how it works best. The environment where it's going to thrive, and the mismatch that causes a point of friction. A plan for what’s next, recommendations for your child’s teacher to implement, and a diagnosis if appropriate.
-
Use your child’s lived experiences and in their own words about what is challenging for them and how the assessment is going to help them learn more about this and how to help us figure this out.
We see your child as a creative, resourceful and whole child who is not a problem to fix, but a person to better understand.
-
Let’s have a thoughtful conversation about your specific concerns and explore what type of evaluation would be most suitable and beneficial for your child’s unique situation. We understand that many families may be unfamiliar with this process and are looking for clear, supportive guidance every step of the way.
-
Our assessment process depends on your child’s unique and specific situation but typically involves meeting with your child for multiple in-person sessions. Additionally, it includes interviewing parents and other adults who regularly spend time with your child, as well as school observations, to gather a comprehensive understanding of their needs.
-
We provide a comprehensive and detailed report within two weeks of completing all aspects of the assessment process.
-
After delivering the report, we’ll schedule dedicated time for a thorough review with you, ensuring we clearly explain all findings and answer any questions you may have.
We can provide a clinical diagnosis (when applicable) that can help you access important resources within your child’s school and community to support their growth and enable them to thrive.
We work to hold space for you to feel empowered with trusted, well-informed recommendations and a thorough feedback session where we carefully review the results and answer any questions you may have.
We find explaining to your child about their results in a developmentally appropriate way and can support that conversation if interested.
You'll be taken to our secure scheduling portal to choose a time.
